Senator Grassley owes his hardworking constituents and every working family in America an apology.
After voting at nearly 2 AM Saturday morning to raise taxes on working families in order to give (highly unnecessary) tax breaks to the 1%, Senator Chuck Grassley justified his vote by saying "I think not having the estate tax recognizes the people that are investing, as opposed to those that are just spending every darn penny they have, whether it’s on booze or women or movies."
The estate tax only applies to families with more than $5.5 million in inheritance and it is the epitome of elitism to suggest that people who aren’t multimillionaires waste their money.
Grassley has had ample time in office to help the middle class, but instead he's done the opposite by stunting the dreams of American workers
Instead, he’s done his best to stunt the dreams of American workers while tilting the scales for the extremely wealthy. His vote for the Republican tax plan in the darkness of night is just the latest example.
Senator Grassley is out of touch with Iowa workers and owes all of us an apology.
